From day one, Quality and Consistency have been more than just words at Castle Danger Brewery.

We believe an unfiltered and unpasteurized craft beer offers a better sensory experience. While hops contribute preservative qualities, it is no secret that heat, light, and oxygen accelerate the natural degradation of any beer.  To mitigate the impact of these natural enemies of beer, it requires stringent brewing, fermenting, conditioning, packaging, storage, and quality assurance practices.

The ultimate measurement is flavor. Our robust sensory program conducts thousands of laboratory-controlled sessions to identify flavor changes over time and different storage conditions. This information provides critical feedback as we continuously test and improve our processes. But as good scientists, we test only one change at a time. And that takes time.

We have the privilege of working with Lake Superior water, arguably the best beer water source in the world.  Over the past several years, we have made significant advances in yeast health sustainability, hop selection and management, beer clarity, and TPO (total packaged oxygen).   While we may not have found all the answers yet, what we have achieved to date is industry leading, staff sensory approved, and statistically validated.

To date, our retail standards have required cold display only.  Over the past decade, the top request we’ve received from our distribution and retail partners is the desire for floor stacker displays at retail.  Our answer has always been the same, “when the data says we can.”

Effective immediately, Castle Danger Brewery is thrilled to announce that retail floor displays of the following packages are now brewery approved:

  • Castle Cream Ale
  • Sea Salt & Lime Lager
  • Lager Royale
  • George Hunter Stout

More brands and/or packages will be added to this list only when the data support it.
