Baptism River Barbecue Co. is a family-owned Northwoods barbecue operation founded in 2020 and run by husband-and-wife team Dan and Kaylee Cahill Mathews. Named after the beloved Baptism River a place deeply tied to their story this small but mighty business brings true North Shore flavor to every plate. (Ask them about the name sometime… they love to share the story!) Based along the shores of Lake Superior, Dan and Kaylee combine their passion for community, good food, and local sourcing to create True Northwoods Barbecue. Their menu features slow-smoked meats and scratch-made sides crafted with locally sourced produce, responsibly raised animals, and hardwoods grown right here on the North Shore. What started as a dream to run a small business together has grown into a culinary adventure they’re excited to share with the community. When they’re not behind the smoker, you’ll find them exploring the outdoors with their dog Juniper.
